Winter Weather Alert (December 17-18, 2025)
We understand there have been questions and concerns regarding the forecasted weather conditions and how they may affect school operations. We appreciate your patience and will share information as it becomes available.
We are closely monitoring local weather information sources regarding the forecasted major blizzard and its potential impact on the Brandon area. When faced with significant weather-related challenges, the Division has the following four potential responses:
- Rural bus routes cancelled (based on the condition of rural roads)
- Closure of rural schools (based on the condition of highways)
- Early dismissal (based on changing weather conditions during the day)
- School closures
Brandon School Division’s Supervisor of Transportation monitors road and weather conditions closely, consulting with local municipal offices and surveying bus routes. Any necessary decisions are made by 6:30 am.
When inclement weather is anticipated, or when school closures or transportation notices are required, an Alert Notice will be posted at the top of our website (www.bsd.ca) and shared through our social media channels. A telephone and email broadcast will be sent to affected families, and local media outlets will be provided with detailed information before 7:00 a.m.
Attendance at school is at parental discretion when travel is required. If you decide that your child will not be attending, please notify the school accordingly. We encourage families to exercise due caution and make the decision that is safest for their circumstances.
Should you have any questions, please contact your child's school or:
