Assistant Superintendent Announcement

Brandon School Division Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Michelle Sawa has been appointed Assistant Superintendent – Curriculum & Human Resources of Brandon School Division, effective July 1, 2026. 

Michelle comes to Brandon School Division with more than seven years of experience as a Senior Administrator, primarily serving as a Superintendent in Ontario. She brings over 25 years of experience in K–12 education, including 15 years in leadership roles with a strong background in school administration. 

Throughout her career with three different school boards in Ontario, Ms. Sawa has built strong, collaborative relationships with students, parents, principals, and staff at all levels. She has led the development of comprehensive K–12 Literacy Plans and worked closely with educators to analyze data and guide implementation based on evidence-informed practices. Ms. Sawa demonstrates a strong understanding of current educational trends and effectively integrates this knowledge into her leadership approach. 

Ms. Sawa’s education includes a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, a Bachelor of Education After Degree, and a Bachelor of Arts.
