Nutrition Program
At Ecole O’Kelly School, we ensure that students have access to healthy, nutritious food every day to promote their health and well-being so that they can focus and thrive in their daily learning. We have the ability do this because we graciously receive financial support from Brandon’s Food for Thought and the Manitoba Universal School Nutrition Program.
Guiding Principles
- Inclusion: we accommodate students with allergies, religious or cultural dietary restrictions
- Equity: snacks and lunches are provided to all students without proof of need
- Quality: all food meets Canadian nutritional guidelines and align with the province’s Moving Forward with School Nutrition Guidelines
Access
Snacks are delivered daily to classrooms every morning. Bins containing fresh fruits and vegetables, whole-grain cereals and crackers, school safe granola bars, yogurt and milk are dropped off for students to choose as needed. Students can also access snacks during recess time at the main office.
In the event that a student arrives without having had breakfast, or without a lunch, our staff will ensure that one is provided to them.
Our program is continuously evolving…. If you have questions about our program, please do not hesitate to contact the school office at 204-729-0399.
